overview | Meng diol, also known as p-menthane -3,8-diol, or PMD for short, has been listed in the national catalogue of cosmetic raw materials (2016) and GB2760 catalogue of food additives, and can be used as cosmetics and food coolers. |
purification | a separation and purification method of meng diol, using Java citronella oil as raw material to react with 25-35wt% of meng diol crude liquid, including the following steps: (1) 300kg of crude liquid is put into a 500L vacuum distillation kettle, the crude meng diol content is 30.3%, turn on the vacuum system, turn on the heating, set the heating temperature to 130 ℃, wait for the steam to reach the top of the tower, and return for 1 hour; (2) adjust the reflux ratio to 14:2, collect the previous fraction, and switch to collect the middle fraction when the geraniol content in the immediate sample is less than 2% by GC detection. (3) raise the heating temperature by about 10 ℃, collect the middle fraction, and switch the collected fraction when the impurity peak is greater than 3% after GC detection of meng diol. (4) raise the heating temperature by 10 ℃, collect the fractions, and stop heating when the liquid level of the distillation kettle reaches the warning line. (5) when the middle fraction is cooled to 20-25 ℃ and the liquid is in a semi-solid and semi-liquid state, 98wt% Meng diol finished product can be obtained by stirring, pouring into a centrifuge and throwing until no obvious liquid flows out. |
application | mendiol is an insect repellent, insecticide composition, characterized by: insect repellent, insecticide composition, comprising (a) lemongrass oil (citronella oil);(B) mendiol;(c) vanillin; and (d) transport medium, the mass ratio of 8 diol to lemongrass oil (citronella oil) is 10~2:1. The advantage of the invention is that it is based on known natural ingredients to alleviate the limitations of current products. The use of two or more insect-repellent materials in a synergistic effect produces a product with additional benefits and superior efficacy in a unique formula. Studies have found that this new composition can effectively repel mosquitoes and has a strong repellent effect. Formulations containing lemongrass oil (citronella oil) and mendiol have been shown to be effective in dealing with Anopheles mosquitoes, mosquito-borne Anopheles mosquitoes, Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that transmit dengue and yellow fever. |
use | mendiol is an alcohol organic substance and can be used as a pharmaceutical raw material. |
production method | a production method of mendiol, which is made by using lemon eucalyptus essential oil and/or citronellal as raw materials, using solid-loaded quaternary ammonium salt as catalyst, and carrying out cyclization hydration reaction in acidic aqueous solution to prepare mendiol; the solid-loaded quaternary ammonium salt is prepared by quaternization reaction of brominated polystyrene resin and tributylamine; brominated polystyrene resin for styrene and divinylbenzene copolymerization reaction of low cross-linking polystyrene resin and 1,4-dibromobutane for bromine alkylation reaction. |
