Abstract:
3, 4-dimethoxyphenylacetaldehyde was synthesized from 3, 4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde by Darzens condensation, alkaline hydrolysis and decarboxylation in a total yield of 58.3%. 4-(2, 2-dimethoxyethyl)-1, 2-dimethoxybenzene and 2-(3, 4-dimethoxybenzyl)-1 were synthesized by condensation with methanol and ethylene glycol respectively, 3-dioxolane, two carbonyl protectors.
