N,N'-Dimethyl-N,N'-diphenylurea is a white crystalline solid. It is a non-metallic heat-insulating material with good thermal conductivity, and it is an important organic amine compound.
N,N'-Dimethyl-N,N'-diphenylurea is mainly used as an intermediate in the chemical industry and finds wide applications in rubber, dyes, pigments, pharmaceuticals, and light-initiator fields. It can also be used as a catalyst or additive in organic synthesis to promote reaction rates or improve reaction yields.
The synthesis of N,N'-Dimethyl-N,N'-diphenylurea involves the reaction of methylated isocyanate ester with diphenylamine under alkaline conditions. This synthetic method is straightforward, operates under mild conditions, and yields are relatively high.
