Bis(ethylcyclopentadienyl)nickel is an organometallic compound with the chemical formula Ni(C5H5C2H5)2.

Nature:
Bis(ethylcyclopentadienyl)nickel is a solid with orange-yellow crystals. It is soluble in non-polar organic solvents such as benzene, ether and chloroform, but hardly soluble in water. The compound is stable at room temperature, but undergoes oxidation when exposed to oxygen at elevated temperatures.

Use:
Bis(ethylcyclopentadienyl)nickel is an important raw material for catalysts and coordination compounds. It is often used in organic synthesis reactions, such:
-As a reducing agent, used to catalyze the addition reaction between olefins and carbonyl compounds.
-can catalyze the hydrogenation reaction of alcohols and aldehydes to generate alcohol compounds.
-used to catalyze the cross-coupling reaction of cyclopentadiene and alkynes to synthesize polymer materials.

Method:
It can be prepared by reacting Bis(ethylcyclopentadienyl)nickel with an appropriate ligand. One common method is by synthesizing nickel (II) bromide and BIS (ethylcyclopentadienyl).
