| biological activity | Gymnestrogenin is a penta-hydroxytriterpene from the leaves of Gymnema sylvestre R.Br. Gymnestrogenin is a potent LXR antagonist with IC50 values of 2.5 and 1.4 μm for LXR Alpha and LXR beta transactivation, respectively. Gymnestrogenin also reduces the transcriptional activity of LXR in its own promoter, thereby reducing the expression of mRNA. |
