VRBA - Introduction
Crystal Violet neutral red bile salt agar is a commonly used biochemical stain, also known as neutral red bile salt agar.
Crystal Violet Neutral Red Bile Salt Agar has the following properties:
1. Appearance is dark purple crystalline or powder;
2. Soluble in water, and produce purple solution;
3. pH range is 6.7-7.9;
4. Easily turns blue under acidic conditions.
Crystal Violet Neutral Red Bile Salt Agar has many uses in life science research:
1. Used as a cell biology stain, can be used to stain the nucleus and cytoplasm;
2. Used as protein electrophoresis stain, in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis can be used to observe and analyze protein;
3. Used as a stain for acidic mucopolysaccharides, such as nucleic acids and hydroxyl proteins.
A common method for preparing crystal violet neutral red bile salt agar is:
1. Dissolve an appropriate amount of bile salt agar in an appropriate amount of hot water;
2. Add appropriate amount of crystal violet neutral red, stir and dissolve;
3. Filter the solution and cool the filtrate to room temperature;
4. Collect the crystals and dry them.
