TRIMETHYLBENZENE - Introduction
trimethylbenzene is an organic compound with the chemical formula C9H12. It is a colorless and transparent liquid with a unique aroma.
trimethylbenzene has two main isomers, namely, meta-toluene (1,2,4-trimethylbenzene) and ortho-toluene (1,3,5-trimethylbenzene). These two isomers are more similar in chemical properties, but different in physical properties.
trimethylbenzene is widely used in industry and scientific research. It can be used as an organic solvent for the manufacture of coatings, adhesives, dyes, fragrances, etc. In addition, trimethylbenzene can also be used as a gasoline additive and in the preparation of polymers such as polystyrene (PS).
trimethylbenzene is mainly prepared by petroleum hydrocracking method and toluene methylation reaction method. Petroleum hydrocracking process is through the high temperature and the presence of Catalyst, the benzene produced by petroleum cracking and methyl alkylation reaction to produce trimethylbenzene. The toluene methylation reaction rule is to use toluene and methanol to react to generate trimethylbenzene.
