Summary:
star anise oil was extracted by steam distillation, organic solvent extraction and supercritical CO2 extraction. the gas phase and chemical composition of star anise oil extracted by different methods were analyzed by GC-MS. The chemical composition of the star anise oil extracted by the three methods is similar, but the chemical composition of the extracts by water vapor distillation is obviously less than that of the latter two methods. The star anise extract extracted by organic solvent and supercritical CO2 is more natural, and the dark brown is slightly viscous. After analysis, there are more chemical components, especially various saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, and the flavor is more rich.

Summary:
The extraction process of star anise oil was optimized by response surface methodology. After selecting the best extraction solvent, the extraction time, liquid-material ratio and temperature are selected as random factors. On the basis of single-factor test, a three-factor and three-level test design was carried out according to the Box-Benhnken center combination method. Response surface analysis (RSA) was carried out with the yield of fennel oil as the response value. The results showed that the optimal extraction conditions of star anise oil were as follows: acetone as solvent, extraction time 2.3h, liquid-solid ratio 40: 5.4(v/w), reflux temperature 78.6 ℃. Under these conditions, the theoretical yield of star anise oil was 10.49%, and the verified measured value was 10.56%, the relative error with the theoretical value is 0.67%.
