O-rings - Physico-chemical Properties

UseO-ring O-ring (O-rings) is a kind of rubber sealing ring with circular cross section. Because its cross section is O-ring, it is called O-ring rubber sealing ring, also called O-ring. It began to appear in the middle of the 19th century, when it was used as a sealing element for steam engine cylinders.

O-rings - Overview

O-ring specifications and standards
O-ring specifications mainly include UHSO-ring specifications, UHPO-ring specifications, UNO-ring specifications, DHO-ring specifications, piston rod O-ring specifications, high temperature resistant O-ring, high pressure resistant O-ring, corrosion resistant O-ring and wear resistant O-ring.
The standards for O-rings are mainly GB 1235-76 and GB GB3452.1-92. Japanese standard P TYPE,G TYPE,S TYPE,SS/V TYPE,F TYPE; US standard AS568, English standard series; European standard series

O-ring has excellent sealing performance and high working life. The working life of dynamic pressure seal is 5-10 times higher than that of conventional rubber sealing products, up to tens of times. Under certain conditions, it can have the same life as the sealing substrate.
O-ring friction resistance is small, dynamic and static friction is equal, is 1/2-1/4 of the friction of "0" rubber ring, can eliminate the "crawling" phenomenon of low speed and low pressure movement.
The O-ring is highly wear-resistant and has automatic elastic compensation function after the sealing surface is worn.
O-rings have good self-lubricating properties. Can be used for oil-free lubrication seal.
The O-ring has simple structure and convenient installation.
O-ring working pressure: 0-300MPa; Working speed: ≤ 15m/s; Working temperature:-55-250 degrees.
O-ring applicable media: hydraulic oil, gas, water, mud, crude oil, emulsion, water-ethylene glycol, acid.
O-ring scope of application
The O-ring seal is suitable for being installed on various mechanical equipment. It plays a sealing role in a static or moving state at a specified temperature, pressure, and different liquid and gas media. In machine tools, ships, automobiles, aerospace equipment, metallurgical machinery, chemical machinery, engineering machinery, construction machinery, mining machinery, petroleum machinery, plastic machinery, agricultural machinery, and various instruments and meters, a large number of types of sealing components are used. O-ring seals are mainly used for static sealing and reciprocating sealing. When used for rotary motion sealing, it is limited to low-speed rotary sealing device. The O-ring seal is generally installed in the outer circle or the inner circle with a rectangular cross-section in the groove for sealing. The O-ring still plays a good sealing and shock absorption effect in oil resistance, acid and alkali resistance, grinding, chemical erosion and other environments. Therefore, O-ring seals are the most widely used seals in hydraulic and pneumatic transmission systems.
Advantages of O-rings
Compared with other types of sealing rings, O-ring seals have the following advantages:
-- Suitable for multiple sealing forms: static sealing, dynamic sealing
Suitable for various materials, the size and groove have been standardized, and the interchangeability is strong
-- Suitable for multiple motion modes: rotary motion, axial reciprocating motion or combined motion (such as rotary reciprocating motion)
-- Suitable for a variety of different sealing media: oil, water, gas, chemical media or other mixed media
Through the selection of appropriate rubber materials and appropriate formula design, the effective sealing effect on oil, water, air, gas and various chemical media is realized. The temperature is widely used (- 60 ℃ ~ 220 ℃), and the pressure can reach 1500Kg/cm2 (combined with reinforcing ring) during fixed use.
-- Simple design, small structure, convenient assembly and disassembly
The O-ring section structure is extremely simple, and has self-sealing function, and the sealing performance is reliable.
Since the O-ring itself and the structure of the installation part are extremely simple and standardized, installation and replacement are very easy.
-There are many varieties of materials
You can choose according to different fluids: nitrile rubber (NBR), fluororubber (FKM), silicone rubber (VMQ), ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM), neoprene rubber (CR), butyl rubber (BU), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), natural rubber (NR), etc.
-Low cost
-- The dynamic friction resistance is relatively small
