MPB - Introduction
MPB, or maleophenol blue, is an organic dye with the chemical name 3-amino -7-anilino -5-methyl anthraquinone. It is a blue crystalline solid that can exist stably at room temperature and pressure. MPB is soluble in alcohols, ethers and ketones, slightly soluble in water, and can be dissolved in organic solvents.
The main use of MPB is as a dye or indicator. It is commonly used in chemical analysis of the redox (redox) titration reaction, can be used as an indicator to show the end of the solution. In addition, MPB is also commonly used in biochemical experiments as an indicator of enzyme activity.
The production method of MPB can be achieved by synthesis. A common method is to react anthraquinone with 2-aminoaniline to give 7-diamino-5-methylanthraquinone, which is then reacted with methyleneaniline to form MPB.
When using and handling MPB, you need to pay attention to some safety information. MPB is an organic compound with certain toxicity, and inhalation and skin contact should be avoided. Appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and safety glasses, should be worn during operation. During storage, MPB should be kept in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place, away from fire and oxidizing agents. If you accidentally inhale or come into contact with MPB, seek medical help immediately.
