MEC-31 - Introduction
N,N'-DIFLUORO-2,2 '-BIPYRIDINIUM BIS(TETRAFLUOROBORATE) is an organic compound commonly abbreviated as DFBP.
Properties: DFBP is a colorless crystalline solid, insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethylformamide. It is a strong oxidant with high thermal stability.
use: DFBP is often used as an oxidant and oxygen source in organic synthesis, and is used as a catalyst for organic synthesis reactions. It can also be used to prepare organic compounds containing fluorine atoms.
Preparation method: The synthesis of DFBP is usually completed by the fluorination reaction of pyridine molecules. A common method is to react pyridine with fluorine gas in the presence of tetrafluoroboric acid to form N,N'-difluoro-2, 2 '-bipyridine, which is then reacted with tetrafluoroboric acid to form DFBP.
Safety information: DFBP is a hazardous chemical that is irritating and corrosive. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as goggles, gloves and protective clothing during use and operation. Avoid contact with skin and eyes, and make sure to operate in a well-ventilated area. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help. In addition, DFBP is also flammable and should be kept away from fire and high temperatures. Proper storage and handling of the DFBP is necessary to prevent possible danger.
