| pharmacological action | arecoline lacks the typical parasympathetic action of arecoline, can also affect the behavior of mice, and can reduce the autonomous activity and inquiry behavior of mice. Studies have shown that arectinine and desmethylarectinine have the activity of C- aminobutyric acid (GABA) reuptake inhibitor on rat brain slices. Another study used cat spinal cord slices to show that arecoline can enhance the inhibitory activity of GAGB and B- alanine, while desmethylarecoline can increase the inhibitory activity of GAGB without affecting the activity of glycine. This study also found that intravenous injection of arecoline has no effect on the activity of GAGB, which indicates that arecoline itself may not be able to act through the blood-brain barrier, and the effect of arecoline on the central nervous system may be through The transmitter system other than GAGB works. |
