75945-90-3 - Introduction
Methyl is an organic compound with the chemical formula of C≡he H₂ O₂. The following is a brief description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Nature:
1. Appearance: colorless liquid
2. molecular weight: 228.24g/mol
3. Melting point: 32-34°C
4. Boiling point: 304-305°C
5. Solubility: Soluble in many organic solvents, such as ethanol, ether and acetone
Use:
1. Methyl is a drug intermediate, commonly used in the synthesis of biologically active compounds.
2. It can also be used as a synthetic raw material for flavoring agents, such as synthetic spices.
Preparation Method:
Methyl can be synthesized by the synthetic steps of carbonyl compounds. First, styrene and 2,3-cyclohexanedione are reacted to produce 1-phenyl -4-methylcyclohexan-2, 5-dione. Then, the diketone is reduced by hydrogenation to obtain 1-phenyl-4-methylcyclohexan-2, 5-dione. Finally, the obtained cyclohexanone was reacted with a methanol acid catalyst under acidic conditions to obtain Methyl.
Safety Information:
1. Methyl may be irritating and care should be taken to avoid contact with skin, eyes and respiratory tract.
2. When using the compound, wear protective gloves, goggles and protective masks.
3. In case of any accidental contact or inhalation, rinse immediately with water and seek medical help immediately.
4. should be stored in a sealed container, avoid direct sunlight and contact with oxygen to prevent its decomposition or oxidation reaction.
