Application | methyl 3-hydroxy-4-nitrobenzoate is an organic intermediate, it can be obtained by esterification of 3-hydroxy-4-nitrobenzoic acid as raw material, and can be used as organic synthesis intermediate and pharmaceutical intermediate, which is mainly used in laboratory research and development process and chemical production process. |
preparation | TMSCHN2 (13.20m in Et2O, 26.48 mL, mmol) at 0 °c. A solution of 3-hydroxy-2-nitrobenzoic acid (2.50g,13.65mmol) in a toluene/methanol mixture (81/36ml) was added. After stirring for 30 min at 0 °c , the solvent was evaporated in vacuo to give an oily residue which was purified by flash chromatography (petroleum ether/ethyl acetate = 9:1), yielding the title compound (2.43g,12.33mmol,90%) as a yellow solid. |
