| In vitro study | Cyproterone acetate has significant antagonistic properties and also has partial activator properties, activating AR at relatively high concentrations with an EC50 of 4.0 μm. In the presence of 10 nM testosterone, low concentrations of Cyproterone acetate inhibited T-stimulated 3XHRE-LUC transcription, but high concentrations stimulated transcription. |
| In vivo study | The effects of Cyproterone acetate on the reproductive organs had a direct negative effect on weight and significantly reduced sperm count and CaCyproterone acetate treatment, coupled with prolonged daylight hours in the fall, had a negative effect on sperm motility and morphology. Androgen receptor treatment with Cyproterone acetate preferentially reduced spermatocyte protamine levels in the testis and also decreased sperm levels involved in nuclear chromatin condensation. |
