In vitro study | Nobiletin, a citrus flavone isolated from citrus peels such as oranges, has anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor activities. Nobiletin, a polymethoxyflavone, can inhibit NO and O tumor invasion activity of human fibrosarcoma HT-1080 cells in an artificial basement membrane model, not only by inhibiting the expression of MMPs, it also acts by interfering with the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase pathway (PI3-K) to increase the production of TIMP-1. Nobiletin may also prevent atherosclerosis at the level of the vessel wall by inhibiting the formation of macrophage cavernous cells. |
