Introduction Levobunolol, chemical name: racemic -5-[3-tert-butylamino-2-hydroxypropoxy] 3, 4-dihydro-1-(2H) naphthalene ketone, English name: Levobunololhydrochloride, molecular formula is C17H25NO3, molecular weight 327.85. Levobunolol is a kind of non-selective β-blocker, which has a good therapeutic effect on open-angle glaucoma. It has been listed as the first choice for the treatment of glaucoma by the US FDA.
Clinical application Levobunolol is a non-selective β-adrenal receptor blocker, which has a blocking effect on both β1 and β2 receptors. The blocking receptor effect of levobunoprolol is 60 times stronger than its dextrorotatory isomer, but the direct myocardial inhibitory effect is the same, so the levobunoprol isomer-levobunoprol is used. Levobunolol had no obvious local anesthetic effect and intrinsic sympathomimetic effect.
at present, levobunoprolol is mainly used to prepare eye drops in clinic. levobunoprolol eye drops have good curative effect on reducing intraocular pressure in primary open angle glaucoma. For some secondary glaucoma, ocular hypertension, angle-closure glaucoma that is not completely controlled after surgery, and glaucoma that other drugs and surgery are ineffective, the addition of levobunoprolol eye drops can further enhance the intraocular pressure reduction effect.
