4124-76-9 - Introduction

CBZ glutamic anhydride, also known as N-benzyloxycarbonyl-L glutamic anhydride, is an organic synthetic reagent. The following is a description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:

Nature:
CBZ Glutamic Anhydride is a white crystalline solid with a peculiar pungent odor. It has low solubility in water, but can be dissolved in organic solvents such as ethanol, dimethylformamide.

Use:
CBZ glutamic anhydride is commonly used in organic synthesis as a protecting group or as a synthetic intermediate of an amino acid derivative. It can prevent the reaction of specific functional groups by introducing CBZ protecting groups into amino acids in order to carry out other chemical transformations. In addition, CBZ glutamic anhydride can also be used in peptide synthesis and other organic synthesis reactions.

Preparation Method:
CBZ glutamic anhydride is often synthesized by reacting benzyl alcohol with glutamic acid. First, benzyl alcohol reacts with glutamic acid under basic conditions to produce N-benzyloxycarbonyl glutamic acid. Then, CBZ glutamic anhydride is obtained by thermal dehydration reaction or addition of an initiator.

Safety Information:
CBZ glutamic anhydride has no obvious harm to human health under normal conditions. However, it may cause irritation to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. Therefore, wear appropriate personal protective equipment during operation to avoid contact with eyes, skin and inhalation of dust. It is best to read and follow the chemical safety instructions carefully before use, and operate in a well-ventilated environment.
