35344-11-7 - Introduction
Pentamethylcyclopentadienyliron dicarbonyl dimer(Pentamethylcyclopentadienyliron dicarbonyl dimer), abbreviated as CpFe(CO)2, is an organic compound containing metallic iron.
Properties: CpFe(CO)2 is a red solid with good thermal stability and solubility. It is stable in air, but can be rapidly decomposed by moisture and oxygen in acidic conditions.
Uses: CpFe(CO)2 can be used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. It can catalyze carbonylation reactions, coupling reactions and carbon-carbon bond formation reactions of alkyl groups and aromatic groups. In addition, it can also be used in the fields of organometallic chemistry research and photochemical catalytic reactions.
Preparation Method: CpFe(CO)2 can be obtained by reacting pentamethylcyclopentadienyl lithium with iron dicarbonyl. First, pentamethylcyclopentadienyl lithium is reacted with ferrous chloride to produce pentamethylcyclopentadienyl ferrous. Then, it is reacted with pentamethylcyclopentadienyl iron oxide in a CO atmosphere to produce CpFe(CO)2.
Safety Information: CpFe(CO)2 is highly toxic and should be protected from skin contact, inhalation and ingestion. During the operation, appropriate safety measures must be taken, such as wearing gloves, masks and glasses. In addition, it should be operated in a well-ventilated area, away from ignition and flammable materials. If a leak occurs, appropriate measures should be taken immediately to clean up and deal with it.
