application | 3-(trifluoromethyl) pyridine-2-thiol, also known as 2-mercapto-3-trifluoromethylpyridine, is an important intermediate and has a wide range of applications in organic synthesis, medicine, pesticides and other fields. |
preparation method | 4.5g(0.025mol)2-chloro -3-trifluoromethylpyridine, 2.75g(0.025mol) sodium polysulfide and 20ml anhydrous ethanol are added to a 100ml four-mouth flask with a stirrer, a condenser tube and a thermometer, and the reflux reaction is carried out for about 6 hours. after the reaction is completed, the ethanol is recovered by atmospheric distillation, in the state of stirring, hydrochloric acid is added dropwise to the reaction bottle to adjust the pH value of the solution to 2, and filtered to obtain a crude yellow 2-mercapto-3-trifluoromethylpyridine. The crude 2-mercapto-3-trifluoromethylpyridine was dissolved in lye with pH of 9-10 and stirred for 2 hours. Filter, wash the filter cake twice with 10ml of water, adjust the pH value of the filtrate to 2 with hydrochloric acid, precipitate a large number of light yellow solids, filter and dry to obtain 1.9g of 2-mercapto -3-trifluoromethylpyridine product, melting point 175-177 ℃, content 99.9%(HPLC), and yield 43.3%. |
