25129-20-8 - Introduction
N,N′-dibenzoyl-L-cystine, also abbreviated as DTNB, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C15H11NO5S. The following is a description of the nature, use, preparation and safety information of DTNB:
Nature:
-Appearance: DTNB exists in the form of colorless crystals or white crystalline powder.
-Solubility: DTNB is soluble in common organic solvents, such as alcohols, ethers and ketones, but has low solubility in water.
-Stability: DTNB is relatively stable under dry conditions, but it is easy to decompose under humid or high temperature conditions.
Use:
-Analytical Chemistry: As an organic reagent, DTNB is commonly used to determine the content of sulfides. It can determine the concentration of sulfide by reacting with sulfide to form a pale yellow dithiobarbituric acid sodium salt (TNB) product.
-Biochemistry: DTNB is also commonly used to determine the content of sulfhydryl groups in biological samples. It can form a yellow product with sulfhydryl, the reaction is more sensitive, and is widely used in the quantitative analysis of protein containing sulfhydryl.
Preparation Method:
The method for preparing N, N'-dibenzoyl-L-cystine is relatively complicated. A commonly used method is to prepare it by reacting imidazole thiocyanate with dibenzaldehyde.
Security Information:
- DTNB is a relatively safe compound, but it still needs to comply with laboratory safety practices.
-Avoid inhaling dust, contact with skin, and getting into eyes when operating DTNB. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
-Take necessary protective measures, such as wearing chemical protective gloves, protective glasses and laboratory ventilation systems, to ensure safe use.
-Please follow the relevant laws and regulations and the handling and disposal of chemicals, and correctly dispose of the unwanted DTNB.
