| biological activity | Ferulic acid methyl ester (Methyl ferulate) is a ferulic acid derivative separated from Stemona tuberosa, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Ferulic acid methyl ester can clear free radicals through cell membrane and blood-brain barrier, which can be used for the research of neurodegenerative diseases. In primary bone marrow-derived macrophages, Ferulic acid methyl ester inhibits the expression of COX-2 and reduces the level of p-p38 and p-JNK. |
