guanidine nitrate was heated and stirred in sodium methoxide (or 50% NaOH) and refluxed for half an hour, then methyl cyanoacetate was added dropwise and refluxed for 2 hours. After completion of the reaction, methanol was recovered by heating. The residue was dissolved by adding hot water. When the heating temperature reached 80 ℃, acetic acid was added to adjust pH = 8, and the product was crystallized, cooled to below 20 ℃, filtered, washed and dried.
