Preparation The solution of quinoline (25 mmol) in dichloromethane (30 mL) was cooled to 0°C. N-bromosuccinimide (2.045g,11.5mmol) and trifluoroacetic acid (1.86mL,25mmol) were added to the reaction mixture in batches within 30 minutes while maintaining 0°C. 5-bromoquinoline is prepared by heating m-bromoaniline, glycerol, m-bromonitrobenzene and concentrated sulfuric acid, or by diazotization reaction of 5-aminoquinoline. 6-bromoquinoline is prepared by heating p-bromoaniline with glycerol, concentrated sulfuric acid, and p-bromonitrobenzene. 7-bromoquinoline was prepared by diazotization of 7-aminoquinoline. 8-Bromoquinoline is prepared by heating o-bromoaniline, glycerol, concentrated sulfuric acid and o-bromonitrobenzene.
