UseAmmonium polyphosphate (APP) is the main variety of phosphorus flame retardant, which is used in fire extinguishing agent, flame retardant coating and flame retardant polymer material. It is an upgrading product of halogen flame retardant. Halogen flame retardants and their flame-retardant polymer materials thermally decompose at high temperatures to produce toxic fumes, such as polybrominated benzenes and polybrominated dibenzofurans, while 80% of fire hazards come from inhalation of excessive smoke, this is a fatal disadvantage of halogen-based flame retardants, and the EC has proposed to limit the use of such flame retardants, and will gradually phase out. Although ammonium polyphosphate flame retardant efficiency is not as good as the halogen flame retardant, but because it does not produce toxic substances when burning, good thermal stability and smoke-free non-toxic.
