production method 4-isobutylacetophenone is formed by reacting isobutylbenzene with Chloroacetyl in the presence of anhydrous aluminum trichloride. The latter was then condensed with ethyl chloroacetate in the presence of sodium isopropoxide to give ethyl 3-(4-isobutylphenyl)-2, 3-epoxybutanoate, further, the product was prepared by hydrolyzing sodium 3-(4-isobutylphenyl)-2, 3-epoxybutyrate with sodium hydroxide solution, and finally acidifying and decarboxylating.
