Potassium is an organometallic compound. Its chemical formula is K(C5H5(CH3)4), which can be abbreviated as K(Cp *). It is a colorless solid with low solubility. The following is a description of the properties, uses, preparation and safety information of the compound:

Nature:
- Potassium is a strong base that reacts with water and acid.

-It can be used as a ligand to form a series of metal organic compounds. (Example: Cp * Rh(CO)2Cl, where Cp * stands for Potassium ())
-It can be used for catalytic reaction, reduction reaction, oxidation reaction and synthesis of organic metal compounds.

Method:
-Generally, Potassium is prepared by the reaction of its precursor sodium decamethylcyclopentadienide (commonly used is sodium decamethylcyclopentadienide).
-Potassium can be prepared by reacting sodium decamethylcyclopentadienyl with Potassium deuteride in a hydrogen atmosphere or with Potassium chloride in ether.
