optison - Introduction
Octafluoropane (also known as HFC-218) is a colorless and odorless gas.
Nature:
Insoluble in water, soluble in most organic solvents.
Usage:
1. Sonar detection: The low reflectivity and high absorption of octafluoropropane make it an ideal medium for underwater sonar systems.
2. Fire extinguishing agent: Due to its non flammable and non-conductive nature, octafluoropropane is widely used in fire extinguishing systems for electronic and high-value equipment.

The preparation method of octafluoropropane is usually through the reaction of hexafluoroacetyl chloride (C3F6O).
