| In vitro study | Buclizine hydrochloride, a piperazine derivative, is a sedative antihistamine with antimuscarinic and moderately sedative effects. Buclizine is used for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness. In addition, it is used in the treatment of Vertigo diseases affecting the vestibular apparatus. Although the mechanism by which buclizine exerts its antiemetic and antidizziness effects has not been fully elucidated, its central anticholinergic effects are partly responsible. The drug inhibits labyrinthine excitability and vestibular stimulation, and it may affect the medullary chemoreceptor trigger zone. It also has anticholinergic, antihistaminic, central nervous system depressant, and local anesthetic effects. |
