TAPC - Introduction

4,4 '-cyclohexylidenebis[N,N-bis(p-tolyl)aniline], also known as MDA (methyleneebis (4-cyclohexylisocyanate)), is an organic compound. Its molecular formula is C19H24N2O2 and its relative molecular mass is 308.41g/mol.

The Nature of MDA:
-Appearance: Colorless or light yellow crystalline solid
-Melting point: 55-60 degrees Celsius
-Melting Point: 360-380 degrees Celsius
-Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers and esters.

purpose of MDA:
MDA is mainly used as the raw material of amine stearic acid catalyst, used to prepare a variety of polymers. In particular for the synthesis of polyurethanes, polyurethanes can be prepared for use in the fields of foams, elastomers, coatings and adhesives.

Production method of MDA: Usually, it is obtained by reacting toluene with isocyanate. First, toluene is heated to react with isocyanate to generate amidomethylaniline, and then subjected to a ring-closing reaction under appropriate conditions (such as acidic or alkaline catalysts) to obtain MDA.

MDA is a toxic chemical and should be operated under appropriate laboratory conditions. Contact with skin, inhalation or ingestion of MDA may cause irritation, allergic reactions or damage to organs such as the respiratory tract, lungs, liver and kidneys.
