| Introduction | 2,5-dibromo-3-octylthiophene is an organic intermediate, which can be obtained by bromination of 3-octylthiophene. |
| preparation | slowly add N-bromosuccinimide (130 g) to a solution of 3-octylthiophene (65g, 333 mmol) in DMF(200 ml) at 0°C through a dropping funnel, 733 mmol) solution in DMF(200 ml). Stir the mixture in the dark for 72 hours. pour the reaction mixture on NaOH solution (300mL,2.5M) and stir at 0 ℃. The mixture was extracted with ether, and the combined organic layer was washed with NaOH(2.5M) and brine. The organic layer was dried with MgSO 4 and the solvent was evaporated to obtain a yellow oily product of 2,5-dibromo-3-octylthiophene (yield 86%,101g). |
