| In vitro study | Isovaleramide is the most active part of the separation from Valeriana pavonii. In vitro experiments, Isovaleramide (300 µm) inhibited 42% Isovaleramide at concentrations up to 1000 µm, and had no effect on the binding and absorption of various neurotransmitters in vitro, the mechanism of action does not involve direct receptor-mediated effects. Isovaleramide (0.15%) induced nitrile hydratase formation in Rhodococcus sp. YH 3-3. |
| In vivo study | Isovaleramide was administered orally at a dose of 100 mg/kg to mice with a 90% protection index against maximal electroshock episodes (MES). In extensive safety studies, Isovaleramide was treated at relatively high doses in rats, rabbits, and dogs, with consistent experimental results. In several reproductive toxicity studies in mice, rats, and rabbits, Isovaleramide had a much lower potential than the VPA. |
