First, 2-methylindole is reacted with diethyltin bromide (Sn(CH2CH3)2Br2) to generate a product in which an ethyl acetate group is introduced at the C2 position, and then hydrochlorinated to generate hydrofluorination using reagents such as hydrofluoric acid (HF) and trifluoroacetic acid (CF3COOH).
