Overview Vanadium tetrachloride chemical formula VCl4 = 192.75, red-brown liquid. Relative density 1.816(30/4 ℃), melting point-(28±2)℃, boiling point 148.5 ℃(755 × 133.322), decomposition at 164 ℃. White smoke in the air. At room temperature, it is decomposed into vanadium trichloride and chlorine, and the decomposition is accelerated by light or heat energy. Dissolved in water, the solution is blue. Also soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, carbon disulfide, carbon tetrachloride, acetone and acetic acid. A mixture of iron (III) chloride and vanadium (IV) chloride was obtained from an iron (III)-vanadium alloy containing chlorine gas and fractionated. For the preparation of vanadium trichloride, vanadium dichloride and medicine.
