68608-66-2 - Introduction

The main product produced by the reaction of sodium chloroacetate (NaOAc) with 4,5-dihydro-undecyl-1h-imidazole-1-ethanol (MImC11OH) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is 4, 5-Dihydro-undecyl-1H-imidazole-1-ethanol hydrochloride (MImC11OH. HCl) and water (H2O).

This reaction product is a solid with good solubility. The hydrochloride form of 4,5-dihydro-undecyl-1h-imidazole-1-ethanol can release the corresponding 4 under acidic conditions, 5-Dihydro-undecyl-1H-imidazole.

One of the main uses of this product is as a catalyst and solvent in organic synthesis. The acid salt form of 4,5-dihydro-undecyl-1H-imidazole-1-ethanol can be used as an ionic liquid solvent to catalyze various organic reactions such as etherification and acylation of alcohols.

The method of preparing the product is to add sodium chloroacetate, 4,5-dihydro-undecyl-1h-imidazole-1-ethanol and sodium hydroxide to an appropriate solvent, after heating the reaction for a period of time, the product is obtained by filtration and crystallization.
