p-Xylenebis(triphenylphosphonium bromide) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C26H24Br2P2, often abbreviated as XPPh3Br2, where X is the para group.

The compound is a white solid, soluble in ethers and organic solvents. Its melting point is about 140-145 degrees Celsius. It has strong electrophilicity and can be used as an electrophilic reagent in organic synthesis.

p-Xylenebis(triphenylphosphonium bromide) is widely used in organic synthesis. Due to its electrophilicity, it can be used for allylation, electrophilic substitution reactions on olefins, etc. It can also be used as an electron catalyst for radical substitution reactions and chlorination reactions.

p-Xylenebis(triphenylphosphonium bromide) can be prepared by reacting para-toluene with an excess of triphenylphosphine and bromine. Under reaction conditions, the reactants are typically carried out under an inert atmosphere and stirred at low temperature for several hours. The reaction product can be obtained in pure form by recrystallization of crystals.
