2-p-tolylpropan-2-amine, also known as 2-p-tolylpropanamine, is an organic compound.

The chemical formula of this compound is C11H17NO, and its molecular weight is 179.26g/mol. It has a colorless to pale yellow solid, is soluble in organic solvents such as dimethyl sulfoxide and acetonitrile at normal temperature, and is insoluble in water. Its melting point is about 38-41 degrees Celsius.
Use:

2. P-Methylacetophenone and methyl iodide are reacted under alkaline conditions to obtain 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-methylethanone.
3. Finally, 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-methylethanone is condensed with methyl carbamate in an alkaline solution to produce 2-p-tolylpropan-2-amine.
