2-methyl-6-[(trimethylsilyl)methyl]-Pyridine (abbreviation: TMS-Py) is an organic compound whose chemical formula is C14H27NSi. It has the following properties:

1. Appearance: The TMS-Py is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a special smell.

2. Solubility: TMS-Py dissolves in many organic solvents.

3. Stability: TMS-Py is relatively stable at room temperature, but affected by light and oxygen in the air, it is prone to condensation, oxidation and other reactions.

The main uses of the TMS-Py are as follows:

1. Organic Synthesis Reagents: TMS-Py in organic synthesis as an important reagent. It can be used to synthesize compounds, such as amides, ethyl carboxylates, and so on.

Benzonitrile is reacted with trimethylsilyl magnesium chloride to obtain dimethylchlorosilicyl phenyl palladium, and then reacted with pyridine to obtain TMS-Py.

When using the TMS-Py, you need to pay attention to the following safety matters:

1 inhalation and skin contact: TMS-Py may be irritating to the skin and eyes, so avoid inhalation and skin contact during operation.

2. Storage: TMS-Py should be stored in a dry, cool place, and away from fire and oxidant.
