-Then, 2-chlorophenylmethanol is reacted with tetrahydrofuran to generate 4-(2-chlorophenyl) tetrahydro-2H-pyran.
-Finally, 4-(2-chlorophenyl) tetrahydro-2H-pyran is reacted with cyanide to generate 4-(2-Chloro-phenyl)-tetrahydro-pyran-4-carbonitrile.
