2-Cyano-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propionic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C16H13NO4. Its properties are as follows:
1. Appearance: White crystalline solid.
2. Solubility: insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents.
3. melting point: about 160-164 ℃.
The main uses of this compound are as follows:
1. pharmaceutical field: as a drug intermediate, used to synthesize some anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant drugs.
2. dye field: can be used for the synthesis of dyes.
In terms of preparation, 2-cyano-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propionic acid can be synthesized by the following steps:
First, p-hydroxybenzaldehyde and malonic anhydride are reacted to obtain 2-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propionic acid.
Then, 2-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propionic acid was esterified with hydrobromic acid, and then cyanated with cyanide to finally obtain 2-cyano-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propionic acid.
With regard to safety information, there is not yet sufficient data on the specific toxicity of this compound. During operation, wear protective gloves, glasses and protective mask to avoid contact with skin and inhalation of dust. In the case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help. During storage, keep it sealed and away from fire and high temperature and sun exposure.
