2-Methylsulfanyl-pyrimidine-4-carbaldehyde (also known as MTMM) is an organic compound. The following is a description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Properties: 2-Methylsulfanyl-pyrimidine-4-formaldehyde is a colorless liquid with a special smell. It is soluble in water and many organic solvents at room temperature. This compound is corrosive to a certain extent.
Application: 2-methylsulfanyl-pyrimidine-4-formaldehyde is mainly used as chemical reagent and intermediate. It can be used as a starting material for the synthesis of other organic compounds, such as drugs, dyes and pesticides. a. 2-methylthio-pyrimidine reacts with sodium hydroxide solution to generate the corresponding phenolate, which is then converted into 2-methylthio-pyrimidine -4-formaldehyde by acid treatment.
B. 2-methylsulfanyl-pyrimidine reacts with formaldehyde, and is converted into 2-methylsulfanyl-pyrimidine-4-formaldehyde by the action of a catalyst.
