1-Etynyl-2-Methoxy-Benzene - Introduction
The chemical formula is C9H8O, also known as phenyl ethynyl ether. The following is a description of the properties, uses, preparation and safety information of the compound:

First, anisole is reacted with an alkali metal base (e. g., sodium hydroxide) under alkaline conditions to produce a benzyl alcohol anion. Then, the resulting benzyl alcohol negative ion is reacted with 2-chloroacetylene to de-chloridiate and form a phenyl anion.
