Nature:
1. Appearance: white or almost white crystal.
2. Melting point: about 143-144°C.
3. solubility: can be dissolved in some common organic solvents, such as ether and dichloromethane.

1. bis(4-methylphenyl)-phenyl-phosphane is often used as a catalyst or ligand in organic synthesis, participating in a variety of reactions, such as hydrogenation, olefin polymerization and C- C coupling.

Preparation Method:
bis(4-methylphenyl)-phenyl-phosphane can be prepared by the following steps:
1. First, add dimethylamino sawdust or other alkali in dichloromethane.
2. Then, 4-methylbromobenzene is reacted with phenylphosphine (or its sodium salt) to generate bis(4-methylphenyl)-phenyl-phosphane.
