(R)-( )-DM-SEGPHOS can be used as a ligand in catalysts, mainly for catalyzing asymmetric synthesis reactions, especially in the presence of metal organic catalysts (such as palladium, platinum, ruthenium or rhodium). It is widely used in asymmetric hydrogenation, diazotization, olefin hydrogenation, asymmetric nucleophilic substitution, asymmetric reduction and other reactions.

The method for preparing (R)-( )-DM-SEGPHOS includes a two-step reaction. First, 3,5-xylitol reacts with Ph2PCl to obtain 3,5-xylylbis (diphenylphosphine) compound; then, it reacts with 4,4 '-bis (1,3-benzodione) under the catalysis of lead (II) salt to obtain the target product.
