Physical and Chemical Properties | Antimony pentafluoride, chemical formula sbf5. Molecular weight 216.74. Colorless thick oily liquid. In the Air smoke, irritation, strong hygroscopicity. Melting point of 7 deg C, boiling point of 149.5 deg C, the relative density of 2.9925. Soluble in water, potassium fluoride solution. Chemical reaction ability is very strong, and hydrofluoric acid and fluorosulfonic acid form a super acid, acid increased significantly. Strong oxidation. Various adducts and molecular compounds are readily generated. Can corrode skin, can also corrode glass, but almost no corrosion of quartz, platinum and aluminum and stainless steel. It has a weak corrosion effect on copper and lead. Corrosion is enhanced when hydrogen fluoride impurity is contained. Preparation Method: can be prepared by antimony or antimony trifluoride and fluorine gas direct reaction, or from antimony pentachloride or antimony trifluoro dichloride and hydrogen fluoride reaction. Purposes: for organic synthesis and system super acid. |
Risk Codes | R23/24/25 - Toxic by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. R34 - Causes burns R51/53 - Toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. R20/22 - Harmful by inhalation and if swallowed. |
Safety Description | S61 - Avoid release to the environment. Refer to special instructions / safety data sheets. S45 - In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label whenever possible.) S36/37/39 - Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. S28 - After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap-suds. S27 - Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. S26 - In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. S22 - Do not breathe dust. |
