the cosmetics industry needs 3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-1, 2, 3-decanediol as wetting agent and penetration enhancer of cosmetic active ingredients such as panthenol, vitamin a, vitamin e, etc.
application
phytenetriol (isomer mixture) is sold on the market under the name "Phytanetriol-63926" of Roche Company. It is used in cosmetic compositions, especially in combination with farnicol and at least one other active agent to control visible or touchable skin interruptions. It also acts as an agent that can limit the penetration of contaminants into the skin, thus protecting the skin from harmful effects of contaminants. Phytane triol (isomer mixture) has antimicrobial efficacy, similar to the regulatory challenge test method (NFENISO11930) to evaluate antimicrobial efficacy.
Preparation
It can be reacted with organic peracids in a well-known way, especially with peroxyformic acid, and then subjected to alkaline hydrolysis to obtain phytotriol (isomer mixture).
