61968-76-1 - Introduction
Alcian Yellow(Alcian Yellow) is an organic dye with the chemical name 4-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl) azo-2, 5,7, 8-tetraaminoquinoline. It is a yellow crystalline powder, soluble in alcohol and ketone solvents, slightly soluble in water.
Alcian Yellow is primarily used as a stain in biochemistry and biomedicine. It is commonly used for staining in histological studies, especially for microscopic observation of the composition and structure of bone, collagen, and cartilage. It can also be used as an indicator in the laboratory to measure pH and pH changes.
Alcian Yellow is generally synthesized by adding ammonia and carbon disulfide to phenol solution. First, the phenol solution is prepared, and then ammonia and carbon disulfide are added to the solution in a certain proportion. After a period of reaction, a precipitate is produced, which can be filtered and dried to obtain Alcian Yellow.
When using Alcian Yellow, you should pay attention to some safety matters. Alcian Yellow has some toxicity, and exposure to or inhalation of its dust may cause irritation and allergic reactions. Therefore, when operating, wear protective gloves, glasses and masks to avoid direct contact with the chemical. When stored, it should be kept in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from fire and flammable substances. Any unused Alcian Yellow should be disposed of properly to avoid contamination of the environment.
