Soluble in water, D chloroform, soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether, aqueous solution of pH 4.5-5.2. The boiling point of the butoxine procaine base ([99-43-3]) is 215-218 °c (0.26 7千帕). |
Use | Highly effective epidermal anesthetic |
In vitro study | Oxybuprocaine binds to sodium ion channels and reversibly stabilizes the nerve cell membrane thereby reducing its permeability to sodium ions. The depolarization of the neuronal cell membrane is inhibited, thereby blocking the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses. Oxybuprocaine, similar to bupivacaine or lidocaine, produces spinal blockade of dose-related motor function, proprioception, and nociception. |
