Use | Methyl o-chloromethyl benzoate is an intermediate of the herbicide bensulfuron-methyl. |
production method | the preparation method is to add o-methylbenzoyl chloride to the chlorination kettle, raise the temperature to 90 ℃, and pass in chlorine gas for about 5 hours. Gas chromatography is used to track and analyze and control the amount of chlorine gas. When the by-product o-dichloromethylbenzoyl chloride reaches 0.8%, the chlorine gas is stopped, cooled to room temperature, and distilled in a distillation kettle to obtain o-chloromethylbenzoyl chloride. Further add o-chloromethyl benzoyl chloride to the esterification kettle, add quantitative methanol to heat, reflux for about 3 h, sample analysis qualified after distillation, first distilled out of methanol, and then reduced pressure distillation to obtain o-chloromethyl benzoate methyl ester. Methyl o-methylbenzoate can also be used for chlorination in the presence of a catalyst at a reaction temperature of 65-80°C. |
