3-(benzyloxy)-3-oxo-propanoic acid, also known as 3-(1-benzyloxycarbonyl-3-piperidinyl)-3-oxopropionic acid, is an organic compound.

Nature:
3-oxo-propanic acid is a white or yellowish solid with a special odor. Its chemical formula is C19H21NO5 and its relative molecular mass is 351.377. The compound has inhibitory activity and is a multifunctional agent.

Use:
3-oxo-propanic acid is widely used in chemical synthesis. It is often used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals for the synthesis of biologically active compounds. It can also be used for protecting group conversion reactions in organic synthesis.

Preparation Method:
The preparation of (br)-3-oxo-propanic acid usually uses piperidine as a starting material. A common preparation method is to first protect the amino group of piperidine as a N-Cbz group using chloroformyl chloride and then introduce an acetyl group onto piperidine via an acylation reaction.
